Every lot of Avohass avocado oil is checked three ways before it goes in a bottle.
Certificate of analysis, every lot. Free fatty acids are the measurement that defines the grade — extra virgin is held to a limit of 0.80%, and we review the certificate before we accept delivery. Depending on the supplier, the certificate also reports peroxide value and moisture.
Physical inspection, every lot. Visual and olfactory. Color, clarity, aroma, taste. Fourteen years of doing this is the reason it catches things a spec sheet doesn't.
Full-spectrum lab panels, periodically. Fatty acid profile and sterols, run by accredited third-party laboratories. We don't run these on every lot — no independent brand our size can — but we run them, and we publish what comes back.
Questions about a specific lot? The lot number is on your bottle. Get in touch or give us a call at 310-880-6998 and we'll tell you what we have on it.

Every Avohass bottle carries a lot number that ties it to the oil inside. On our Mexico, Kenya and Spain bottles, three lines are ink-jetted directly onto the glass just above the back label: the lot number, the best-by date, and the country of origin. The dark glass makes the code easy to miss, so tilt the bottle toward a light and it comes up. New Zealand bottles are different — there the lot is printed on the label itself, in the box marked BATCH.
Most avocado oil brands won't tell you what's in the bottle. We put the lot number on every bottle and jug, and the result on this page, so you can check the exact oil you bought. Every lot, every time.

Find the lot number on your bottle and match it to the table above to see the result for the exact oil you bought. Free fatty acids are what define extra virgin grade — nothing is removed after pressing, so the number reflects the fruit itself, and the limit for extra virgin is 0.80%. Refined oil is different: refining strips free fatty acids out as part of the process, so it always tests very low. That's the process, not a higher grade. We review a certificate of analysis on every lot before it goes in a bottle.
Single origin, never blended. Mexico, New Zealand, Kenya, Spain — the country is on the glass next to the lot number, and every lot we're shipping is on this page.
